The Mauryan period saw a steady expansion of trade with the Western world and the exchange of emissaries between Mauryna and Hellenistic kings. After a treaty was made between Chandragupta and Seleucus, he was sent as the latter’s ambassador to the Mauryan court. He wrote Indica which is one of the important sources of the history of contemporary period.
