சென்னை, ராஜாஜி சாலையில், விக்டரி போர் நினைவுச் சின்னம் உள்ளது.
நாட்டிற்காக உயிர்த் தியாகம் செய்த ராணுவ வீரர்களின் நினைவைப் போற்றும் வகையில் சென்னை விக்டோரியா ராணுவ நினைவிடத்தில், போர் நினைவு சின்னம் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அங்கு 100 அடி உயரம் கொண்ட கொடிக் கம்பத்தில் 24 மணி நேரமும் பறக்க கூடிய மிகப்பெரிய தேசிய கொடி பறக்க விடப் பட்டுள்ளது.
சென்னையில், போர் நினைவு சின்னத்தில், இரவு, பகல் இடைவிடாமல் தேசிய கொடியை பறக்கவிடப்படும்.
சென்னை, விமான நிலையம் உள்ளிட்ட மிக முக்கியமான இடங்களில் மட்டுமே, 24 மணி நேரமும் தேசியக் கொடி பறக்கும் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
முதலாம் மற்றும் இரண்டாம் உலக் போரில் உயிர் தியாகம் செய்த சென்னை மாகாண போர் வீரர்களுக்காக கட்டப்பட்ட நினவு சின்னம் விக்டரி வார் மெமோரியல். இது சென்னை மெரினா கடற்கரை சாலையில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது.
The Victory War Memorial is located to the south of Fort St. George
It is a circular rock and marble structure built in the area that formerly housed the coastal belfry. Within what was once called Cupid’s Bow stands a flag post with the Tricolor aflutter, and a squat tower that lances the sky.
The towering National Flag will be visible over a long distance and would be there throughout the year. The flag is expected to instill a feeling of oneness and patriotism amongst all the citizens and remind them about the supreme sacrifices made by our soldiers in the highest tradition of the Services.The flag mast measuring 30.5 meters in height proudly holds aloft the 20 feet by 30 feet Tricolour which adds to the grandeur of the Victory War Memorial.
The Victory War Memorial is situated on the Beach Road near island ground at the beginning of Marina Beach. It was built to honour the memory of soldiers who died during the two world wars. The Victory War Memorial was initially constructed to celebrate the victory of allied armies during World War I. It later became a War Memorial after World War II in the memory of those from Madras presidency who lost their lives while fighting. Also known as Cupids Bow, marble rock and a circular structure have been built here in the memory of soldiers.
The Victory War Memorial is known for the inscriptions of 1962 war with China, 1948 Kashmir aggression, Kargil Operations and the Indo-Pak War.
