To highlight the impressiveness of the Fafnir dragon, Germania Mint has created the special edition – Germania Beasts: Fafnir 2 oz Silver BU – the 2 oz coin of 999.9 silver with ultra double high relief – 4 mm on the Obverse and 2 mm on the Reverse. The image of the Fafnir dragon has been raised and covered with the new special effect – Chameleon – the coating that makes the dragon’s skin shimmer in different colors depending on the incident light.
The obverse & reverse story
The coin design has been precisely planned and created by Natalia Danysz. The idea used in this project is very rare in the Numismatic World! Seemingly two separate displays compose an integral part. The Fafnir’s visualization has been created in a way, where two parts of its body placed on the obverse and reverse of one coin, together create the image of a dragon’s in the shape of the infinity sign. To see this effect, the coin needs to be flipped or two coins with need to be placed the obverse above the reverse.
The integral part of the Germania series is the symbol of the two-headed eagle. On Fafnir coins eagle is located on the reverse, encircled by the dragon’s tail.
A limited quantity of 999 pieces, creates the remarkable opportunity to become the exclusive owner of precious coins. Also, its upgraded look and elegant packaging make it an amazing gift for keen numismatist or for someone who is not an avid collector.

The Germania Beasts program will explore a fascinating and diverse array of legendary creatures. The series celebrates the idea that legends are an important part of every civilization. The rich history of ancient Germania culture contains some of the most terrifying creatures in all of Europe.
For the first release, the mint has selected the Fafnir Dragon, an ancient monster known for being both sinister and extremely intelligent. He is prominent in many Germanic myths but is most known for as the defender of the great treasure of Andwari.
The design of the round is extremely unique in that the dragon’s body is continuous from obverse to reverse. The holder can flip the round and see the continuity of the Beast in a shape resembling an infinity symbol.

The Bicephalous Eagle (two-headed eagle) is a Roman mythology symbol associated with Janus – the god of all origins, guardian of doors, gates, passages and bridges, the patron of contracts and alliances. Heads facing the opposite direction symbolizing the past and the future.
