Created for History Honours students
Welcome to PAATH History
This video is created for History Honours students to discuss about the religious beliefs and deities of the Harappan people. It is not easy to reconstruct the Harappan religion. In the first place, we cannot make a simple starting assumption that what we today understand as ‘Hinduism’ was to be found in the Bronze Age. Hinduism took centuries to evolve. So we have to think further on this subject; and in this context we have to discuss about various aspects and dimensions of Harappan religious beliefs and so-called ‘deities’. This topic is somewhat controversial. This video, in short, presents the main features of the religious beliefs and deities of Harappan Culture.
