Discovered by an American chemist named Willard Libby in 1949, radiocarbon dating is today a very widely used dating method in archaeology. This dating technique completely revised the history of Neolithic Age. When radiocarbon dating was applied to remains from West Asian Neolithic sites it was found that these sites were much older than what had been thought earlier. So, to reconstruct the chronology of spreading agricultural activities this technique played a revolutionary role. This video deals with the basic idea behind this technique especially for an easy understanding.
