2-Rupee Coins of the Birth Centenary of Subhas Chandra Bose were pre-issued by one year in 1996. These were minted by Kolkata mint.

These coins are rare and costly. Later on these coins were withdrawn from circulation and new coins with right year of 1997 were minted.
