The accidental discovery of a 900-year old Shiva Linga at a village in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra has further confirmed that the Parmar kings of Vidarbha were Shiva devotees. This Shiva Linga is similar to the one in the Markanda Temple of Chandrapur.
Mr. Ashok Singh Thakur (Convener INTACH Chandrapur, Maharashtra) explains about the importance of the discovery and links it with coins of Jagdev Parmar who was a devotee of Lord Shiva. He also appeals to the Government to excavate the place further to unearth more historical discoveries related with Chandrapur and Maharashtra.
