Minted at the Perth Mint in Australia, the 2010 Year of the Tiger silver coin contains 1 oz. of .999 fine silver. Measuring approximately 46 mm in diameter with a weight of 31.1 grams, each coin arrives packaged in an airtight, plastic capsule.

The obverse of the coin features a profile of Queen Elizabeth, the current monarch of Australia. The original portrait was initially designed by British sculptor, Ian Rank-Broadley. In addition, the words “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA,” “1 DOLLAR” and “1 OZ 999 SILVER,” along with the date of mintage, 2010, are also engraved on the outer edge of the coin.

The reverse features an image of a tiger resting in the grass near a tree. The Chinese symbol for tiger in addition to the phrase “Year of the Tiger” is also engraved. The third sign in the Chinese zodiac, the tiger represents bravery, courage, and boldness. The next year of the tiger will take place in 2022, as the Chinese zodiac spans over a twelve year cycle.
