Government of India, Victoria portrait, Rupees 10, Uniface, signed J. A. Ballard as Commissioner, the portrait of the queen looking right within a wreath of Oak and Bay, the ribbon and the leaves with berries of the wreath are very similar to the reverse of silver one rupee coins of the time, Printed on watermark paper in England, with the Governor General Lord Canning’s signature at the lower left bottom, dated 14 June 1864, Bombay, with red hand stamp Bank of Bombay and in Gujarati Mumbai ni Bank (J&R 2.1.4). Restored in the center, Very Fine, Extremely Rare. This series is one of the first notes put into circulation by the Government of India bearing its name by the Indian Paper Money Act of 1861. They are the only uniface notes featuring a portrait of Queen Victoria.
