On the occasion of Buddha Poornima, we present a gold coin of Kushan king Kanishka I (AD 127 to 152). The coin depicts a human form of Lord Buddha. This is the earliest known human representation of Lord Buddha.
This coin was issued on the occasion of Great Conference of Buddhism convened by Kanishka. This Conference lead to the foundation of Mahayana Buddhism and worshiping of Lord Buddha in his human form.
