Today we take a look at an amazing collection of world banknotes. I estimate the retail value of this entire collection to be somewhere around $75,000 or more. This collector has hundreds of Romanian banknotes in exceptional graded from both PMG and PCGS. Almost all of these notes are graded either uncirculated (UNC) or about uncirculated (AU) which is truly astonishing since many of these notes are more than 100 years old. Since this is a huge collection of paper money, this series will be divided into four parts.
In Part 3 of this special series we finish looking at the Romanian communist era 1952 banknotes and then the 1966 series banknotes that were released during the rule of the infamous Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. Afterwards, we will be going through the banknotes released after the Romanian Revolution of December, 1989. After the Revolution, Romania became a democracy of sorts, although many elements of the old communist machine still remained ingrained in the system. This ultimately lead to unbridled corruption and a period of hyperinflation in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
